A vast majority of website owners pay their designer (hopefully), put up their website and forget about it. Like old marketing brochures, they collect dust and don’t produce much of anything as far as sales go.
Time passes, the internet evolves, but yet their website still stands there on the corner of NoWhere & NoPlace. The old canard “I tried a website but it didn’t work” often is the mantra these folks sing to themselves.
Sooner or later, however, a hacker gets into the site and wreaks all sort of havoc. Old website code is an invitation to allow the bad guys to lop onto a website page, infiltrate the web server, snarl down to your email, steal then infect your contact list and cause you lots of embarrassment. Not including any loss of important financial data.
Don’t be surprised if you web hosting company shuts down your site and email, and then there is hell to pay to get it off blacklists.
You are now an official victim of “penny-wise and pound-foolish” and all that money you thought you’d save cutting corners now flows like water out of your company budget.
